Background: Exodontia is the process of removing a tooth from its socket within the alveolar bone. Pain, bleeding, and non-healing are common complications associated with exodontias.Objectives: To compare bleeding time, pain, and healing after dental extraction using Ferrum Phosphoricum (FP) and a sterile gauze pack (SGP).Material and Methods: This randomized controlled trial included 236 patients selected through consecutive sampling. Medically healthy individuals aged 15 to 60 were included while unwilling participants, those with medical complications, substance abuse history, fractures, or pregnancy were excluded. Patient data, including age, gender, and intervention details, were documented. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: FP tablets and pressure pack. Hemostasis achievement time, healing, and pain were recorded for both groups. Chi-square and Student t-tests were employed for comparisons.Results: The SGP group had a longer bleeding time (6.09±1.41 min) than the FP group (2.37±0.95 min) (p<0.001). Abnormal bleeding was observed in 55.9% of the SGP group but not in the FP group (p<0.001). Regarding pain scores, on Day 3 and Day 7 post-operation, the FP group reported significantly lower pain scores than the SGP group (p<0.001). However, by Day 14, both groups had no reported pain (0.0±0.0). Moderate and severe pain were more prevalent in the SGP group than in the FP group on Day 3 and Day 7, with statistically significant differences (p<0.001). The healing score was significantly lower in the FP compared to the Gauze pack group on Day 3, 7, and 14 (p<0.001).Conclusion: Ferrum Phosphoricum is superior in controlling post-extraction bleeding, pain management, and wound healing compared to a sterile gauze pack.Keywords: Bleeding, Dental Extraction, Hemorrhage, Socket, Sterile.

Background: Chronic insomnia is a prevalent yet underdiagnosed condition affecting quality of life. Conventional treatments have limitations, highlighting the need for safe, individualised approaches. Homoeopathy, emphasising totality-based prescribing, offers an integrative solution, but comparative research on standardised versus individualised homoeopathic interventions is limited. Objectives: The study compares the clinical efficacy of individualised homoeopathic treatment (IHT) and Kalium Phosphoricum in managing chronic insomnia. Methods: A randomised, single-blind clinical trial was conducted on 30 patients diagnosed with chronic insomnia (ICSD-III and DSM-5 criteria) at a homoeopathic medical institution. Participants were randomised into two groups: one receiving Kalium Phosphoricum and the other receiving individualised remedies based on constitutional analysis. Outcomes were assessed using the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Results: Both groups showed significant improvement in ISI scores, with the IHT group showing a greater reduction (21.4 points) compared to the Kalium Phosphoricum group (8.67 points). Conclusion: The study found that personalised homoeopathic treatment, which differs from Kalium Phosphoricum, is more effective in managing chronic insomnia, thereby suggesting the potential benefit of individualised prescribing; however, findings are preliminary, limited by a small sample, subjective outcomes, and lack of placebo control.

BackgroundNo systematic review has previously been carried out on randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of veterinary homeopathy in which the control group was an intervention other than placebo (OTP). For eligible peer-reviewed RCTs, the objectives of this study were to assess the risk of bias (RoB) and to quantify the effect size of homeopathic intervention compared with an active comparator or with no treatment.MethodsOur systematic review approach complied fully with the PRISMA 2009 Checklist. Cochrane methods were applied to assess RoB and to derive effect size using standard meta-analysis methods. Based on a thorough and systematic literature search, the following key attributes of the published research were distinguished: individualised homeopathy (n = 1 RCT)/non-individualised homeopathy (n = 19); treatment (n = 14)/prophylaxis (n = 6); active controls (n = 18)/untreated controls (n = 2). The trials were highly diverse, representing 12 different medical conditions in 6 different species.ResultsNo trial had sufficiently low RoB to be judged as reliable evidence: 16 of the 20 RCTs had high RoB; the remaining four had uncertain RoB in several domains of assessment. For three trials with uncertain RoB and without overt vested interest, it was inconclusive whether homeopathy combined with conventional intervention was more or was less effective than conventional intervention alone for modulation of immune response in calves, or in the prophylaxis of cattle tick or of diarrhoea in piglets.ConclusionDue to the poor reliability of their data, OTP-controlled trials do not currently provide useful insight into the effectiveness of homeopathy in animals.

BackgroundThe present study was initiated to investigate the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of complex homeopathic CalSuli-4-02 tablets on prevention of recurrent acute upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) in children, in comparison to another complex homeopathic product.MethodsThe study was designed as a prospective, multicenter, randomized, open, clinical trial with two parallel treatment groups at four outpatient pediatric clinics in Russia. Children aged ≤ 6 years with susceptibility to acute URTIs (≥ three occasions during the last 6 months) were randomized to receive either CalSuli-4-02 or a comparator homeopathic product (control group) for 3 weeks. Primary outcome was the frequency of acute URTIs after 3 and 6 months post-treatment follow-up. Secondary endpoints were changes in complaints and symptoms (total and individual scores), treatment satisfaction, antibiotic use, safety and tolerability.ResultsThe intention-to-treat analysis involved 200 children (CalSuli-4-02: N = 99, CONTROL: N = 101). In both treatment groups, the median number of acute URTIs was one for 3 months and two, respectively, for the full 6 months post-treatment (Relative Risk: 0.86 (95 %-CI: 0.72-1.03), p = 0.1099). Seasons had no influence on the outcome. At the end of study, CalSuli-4-02 had overall higher odds of getting lower complaints severity total score (Odds ratio: 1.99 (95 %-CI: 1.31-3.02), p = 0.0012) and showing symptom improvement (Odds ratio: 1.93 (95 %-CI: 1.25-3.00), p = 0.0033). Specifically, the complaint "appetite disorder" and the symptom "child's activities" significantly improved more in the CalSuli-4-02 group (p = 0.0135 and p = 0.0063, respectively). Antibiotic use was decreased in both treatment groups at the study end. Overall assessment for satisfaction with and tolerability of treatment was higher with CalSuli-4-02. A low number of non-serious adverse drug reactions was reported (CalSuli-4-02: N = 4, CONTROL: N = 1).ConclusionsBoth complex homeopathic products led to a comparable reduction of URTIs. In the CalSuli-4-02 group, significantly less URTI-related complaints and symptoms and higher treatment satisfaction and tolerability were detected. The observation that the use of antibiotics was reduced upon treatment with the complex homeopathic medications, without the occurrence of complications, is interesting and warrants further investigations on the potential of CalSuli-4-02 as an antibiotic sparing option.Clinical trial registration numberRoszdravnadzor: Study No 164-563.

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) uses a holistic approach that finds natural solutions that help the immune system to fight off infection and diseases. In conventional medicine, the diseases are treated as a series of symptoms developed and not its actual cause or etiology, but CAM commonly targets the exact cause of the disorder thereby stimulating the body's healing process. This is based on an integrative literature review of methods and techniques used as complementary and alternative approaches for oral health care. A comprehensive electronic database search was conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Google, Google Scholar, and SCOPUS. Medicinal plants such as Medicago Sativa, Aloe Barbadensis Miller (Aloe Vera), and Trifolium Pratense (Red Clover) have excellent applications in treating gum disorders, prevent tooth decay, and have demonstrated good antifungal activity in the oral cavity. Homeopathic medicines such as Belladonna, Antimonium crudum, and Chamomilla have useful applications in relieving toothache. In Chinese medicine, various acupressure points (Acupuncture) have been used to relieve pain related to tooth, head-and-neck region, sinusitis, etc. Dental professionals can utilize these treatment modalities in their practice along with other conventional procedures as an integrative treatment approach to achieve better outcomes.

BackgroundMore than 670 million people have been infected by COVID-19. This case series reports 8 of 55 cases in a broader study of COVID-positive clients who sought homeopathic care for symptoms. Existing studies of homeopathy and COVID-19 have sometimes failed to employ the underpinning theoretical framework of homeopathy-the genus epidemicus. Special focus has been placed on standout symptoms not often reported in conventional medical outlets, known among homeopaths as "strange, rare and peculiar" (SRP) symptoms. The Homeopathy Help Network (HHN) team of practitioners noted SRP symptoms across dozens of cases and studied how they shifted collectively as different variants of the virus emerged.MethodsCOVID-positive individuals self-selected for individualized care for their symptoms using homeopathy. They received tele-health consultations and individualized homeopathy interventions in an out-patient homeopathy clinical setting. Clients were seen by individual professional homeopathy practitioners and students under supervision working at the HHN in the United States. Cases for the series were hand-picked with the aim of being an average representation of the more than 4,000 COVID-positive cases seen by members of the HHN. Cases in the full compendium are grouped according to a predominant case feature: Multiple remedies, Posology, Time ill, Single remedy resolution, Hospitalization and, in this case series, SRP symptoms.ResultsSRP symptoms included: continually on the verge of unconsciousness; dark green stools; very low pulse alternating with tachycardia; sensation of strong or burning chemical smells; sensation of inhaling water through the nose; recurring electric shock sensations in head or extremities; yellow-green stools.ConclusionCollective SRP symptoms from the pandemic provided the opportunity to study the hallmark features of COVID-19 in depth. The importance of these symptoms highlights the applicability of Hahnemannian principles and good case-taking practices.
